Is America still a country worth dying for?

The sorry news – we have let slip thru our fingers so much that we hold dear in this country. Values, principles, traditions are being smothered in a cloak that is clearly of The People Of The Lie.

If only good can triumph over evil then the question begs to be answered – where did all the good men go? If we refuse to worry that question and resolve to correct it, then another surfaces – is America still a country worth dying for?

Western Rifle ShootersThe Heroes Of Lost Causes

As for that sinking feeling of betrayal that you feel. I feel it too. You are not alone. It is not our country that has betrayed us. Our country is a philosophy. Our country is an idea. Let us not mix the actions of our government with the actions of our philosophy. And to that same government, remember this:

We are not the “peaceful” generation; we won’t just watch. We are not the “greatest” generation; we don’t need a cause. We are a different kind of generation. We are the Heroes of Lost Fucking Causes.

Imagine what we could do if we had a truly just cause, perhaps restoring liberty to our own homes.

Straight Line Logic – Robert GoreIn Memoriam

Millions have marched off to war believing they were defending the US, which implies the US was under attack. Yet, setting aside for a moment Pearl Harbor and 9/11, US territory hasn’t been invaded by a foreign power since the Mexican-American War (arguably–Mexico claimed the territory it “invaded” was part of Mexico), or, if the Confederacy is considered a foreign power, the Civil War. That war ended a century-and-a-half ago, yet every US military involvement since has been justified as a defense of the US. That has gradually attenuated, in a little noted slide, to a defense of US “interests,” which is something far different.

There are undoubtedly many epitaphs on tombstones in this country to the effect: Here lies the deceased, who died defending America, and not one that reads: Here lies the deceased, who died defending American interests. However, the latter is in most cases more accurate than the former.

Deth Guild – Dear Government: Consent Revoked

… let’s not forget how we ended up with smoldering cities…From corrupt judges rubber stamping abuse, to abusive District Attorney’s cherry picking lives to destroy, to the police shooting, beating, looting and generally doing anything they damn well please, (with near-zero accountability), the “reasonable authority figures” have destroyed people’s faith in the system. This escalating breakdown of the civil society is the inevitable result of a population giving up on a city – and to a greater extent, a nation. And why shouldn’t they? America has proven itself irredeemably corrupt from the highest federal office to the lowliest animal control officer. Anyone can peruse the daily news and witness all manner of public institutions weaponized to harm the population and ransacked to enrich the gentry. There is no justice to be found here, only oppression and decimation of any unlucky enough to come to Mordor’s attention.

When a people witnesses every level of government, from national to state to the local municipalities engaged in shameless lies, graft, corruption and abuse of power, it scuttles their mandate to dispense order. It’s also leading by example – every strata of our failing political system is mired in deceit and fraud – why would the citizenry not follow such sterling examples?

We know where evil resides in this country. Or do we? Have we taken a good long look in the mirror lately? For all the disdain we may have for this narcissistic POS, by our inaction are we complicit and should our own images, spitting on the graves of soldiers gone before us, be placed alongside his?
