When he is a fully functioning human being, full of passion, compassion, clarity of right and wrong. Responsible. A seeker of truth. He is not of any color.
“The fully human person is his own person, he does not bend to every wind which blows, he is not at the mercy of all the pettiness, the meanness, the impatience and anger of others. Atmospheres do not transform him as much as he transforms them. In a fully human person, there is a balance of senses, emotions, intellect and will.” John Powell
Such a person is Johnathan Gentry. He happens to be black and he is speaking to a black issue, but his message of “change” applies to all of us when something is wrong. We have to step up to the plate and change things ourselves or risk giving up our power to effect change to others.

Finally, someone gets it. This young man gets to the root of the problem …
Yes he does! Individual responsibility! Thank you for reblogging.
Lady Raven, I would have given that guy a standing ovation if I would have been listening to him live! I’m re-blogging this.
So would I. If you didn’t check him out on his facebook you might want to.

Labels divide not unite. The efforts of political entities and philosophies to label everyone is divisive, intended to separate people not unite them. Thus this practice is evil in and of itself.
Oh hell yeah. If we had the capability of using a label such as “black man” and have it mean just that – the person’s skin is “black” – without attaching our history and prejudices and baggage to it that would be fine. People being what they are, that ain’t gonna happen. Too bad.
I like the label “American” just fine.
So do I – and amazingly there are plenty here who don’t.
